History

Founded in 1992 to meet the need for an international standard school in Chittagong, Chittagong Grammar School (C.G.S.) began with a collaborative effort by four families (Dadas, Ispahanis, Khans and Nizams). They recruited the best teachers and established high academic standards. The school opened in January 1993 with 64 students and 14 teachers, aiming to develop students academically, physically, morally, and socially. By 1996, it offered classes from Playgroup to ‘O’ Levels and relocated its Junior Section. C.G.S. became a full member of Round Square International, embracing its six pillars, and joined several other international organizations. With consistently high ‘O’ Level results, the school introduced an ‘A’ Level program in 2002. Today, C.G.S. serves over 1500 students with a holistic education approach and a robust extra-curricular program, maintaining excellence in teaching and learning standards. In 2010, C.G.S. expanded its reach by opening a branch in Dhaka (CGSD), furthering its mission to provide quality education.
